The one time that I am actually thankful that the weekend is finally over. Last night our three year old basset George passed away. Preliminary blood work came back that he had gotten valley fever. We had started antibiotics and tried to get him back to a semi normal state on Thursday. But by Sunday afternoon he was barely hanging on. My little brother laid with him through his passing moment. That was the heart breaking part. He was an obnoxious puppy but he will be missed.
Now, for my little blurb. Valley fever is not contagious in animals or humans. The animal actually has to breath in the bacteria in the soil. It has become more common this year thanks to all of the Ha-boob's we have been having in Arizona. If you see any differences in your pet please take them to a vet. We noticed that George had bloodshot eyes and was not keeping any food down. Please take the time to make sure your pet is in tip top condition and see's a vet regularly. Valley fever is treatable if caught on time.
